Collection: Margaret DeLima

Margaret DeLima is drawn to the small, unspoken negotiations between people and the spaces they occupy—the way architecture, posture, and proximity tell a story no one is saying out loud. Her paintings focus on ordinary gestures and details: a hand cradling a cell phone, a plastic grocery bag draped over an arm, or the shapes between figures as they move through space. Using dramatic light and lost-and-found contours, she gives her subjects weight and dignity, looking deeply and long enough that someone becomes impossible to overlook. Through her work, DeLima reflects on ordinary life while bringing attention to the people and moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.

“There is a moment in the process I wait for: when the mark surprises me, and a figure stops being a reference and becomes a presence.” Margaret DeLima
