Works by Susan Buroker
Susan Buroker is an interdisciplinary artist and teacher in Smithtown, NY. Susan’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States and most recently at the Heckscher Museum of Art, Long Island Biennial. Susan Buroker grew up on the south shore of Long Island, New York in a seaside town in which relationships with the sea and land were held sacred. She transformed from a young girl to a teenager as the landscape changed, making room for new housing developments. As an adult, Susan lives on the north shore of Long Island, still drawn to the sea and land, witnessing the constant transformation of our environment. Ms. Buroker's daily practice as an artist is to sit in the landscape reflecting, back into the world the poetry nature is creating. These stories become the raw material for her paintings and sculpture.
Susan’s work will lead you into hidden places where the sacredness of the land is revealed and invite you to let go of the familiar and embrace the unknown.
